Introduction

This Virtual Lab is a continuation of Metal Forming Virtual Simulation Lab (Processes) – II. The Metal Forming Virtual Simulation Lab (Applications) – III is a web-based laboratory designed to bridge the gap between fundamental process mechanics and real-world industrial utility through interactive simulations. This lab focuses on the practical implementation of metal forming techniques in the production of critical mechanical components, medical devices, and high-precision hardware.
The experiments cover the specific applications of various forming and manufacturing processes, including the production of Crankshafts, Connecting Rods, Screw Heads, and Gears. Furthermore, learners will explore specialized operations such as Bar Shearing, Stamping, and the Ripple Process, alongside the critical manufacturing of Medical Implants. Through these simulations, students can analyze how material properties and deformation parameters are optimized for specific end-use parts, ranging from heavy-duty automotive bench work to intricate surgical components. This virtual environment provides a comprehensive platform to study component-specific manufacturing workflows and the selection of appropriate forming processes for diverse engineering applications.
