Introduction

A Fluid Mechanics Virtual Lab is an online simulation platform that allows students to perform fluid mechanics experiments digitally using a computer. It replicates real laboratory setups such as flow through pipes, Bernoulli’s experiment, packed bed flow, and impact of jet on vane through interactive simulations. Virtual labs are designed to help students understand fluid behavior, verify theoretical principles, and analyze experimental data without requiring physical laboratory equipment. They enhance conceptual understanding of fluid flow phenomena and prepare students for real experiments The Fluid Mechanics Virtual Lab is designed to provide students with an interactive environment to understand the principles of fluid flow and related engineering applications through computer-based simulations.

Objective

The Fluid Mechanics Virtual Lab is designed to provide students with an interactive environment to understand the principles of fluid flow and related engineering applications through computer-based simulations.

  1. Understanding Fundamental Concepts - To help students understand basic fluid mechanics concepts such as pressure, velocity, flow rate, energy conservation, and head loss.
  2. Development of Analytical Skills - To allow students to collect experimental data, perform calculations, and analyze results to verify theoretical principles.
  3. Safe and Cost-Effective Learning - To conduct experiments without the risk of equipment damage, fluid leakage, or safety hazards.
  4. Remote and Self-Paced Learning - To provide access to laboratory experiments anytime and anywhere, supporting distance learning and self-practice.
  5. Preparation for Real Laboratory Work - To familiarize students with experimental procedures, instruments, and data analysis before performing actual physical experiments.
  6. Enhancement of Engineering Understanding - To strengthen the connection between theoretical fluid mechanics and practical engineering applications.
