Introduction

Welcome to the Electroanalytical Virtual Laboratory (EVL) — an innovative, research-oriented digital platform designed for Undergraduate (UG) students, Postgraduate (PG) scholars, research fellows, and faculty members. EVL aims to introduce students/learners with the fundamentals of redox chemistry and the concepts of electrochemistry through a well-designed virtual experiment of voltammetry, amperometry, potentiometry etc in a lucid manner. It provides better understanding of the relationships between electrical charges, potential, current, 3 electrode system etc. Electroanalysis plays a vital role in modern chemical sciences, environmental monitoring, material science, and sensor development. This serves as a comprehensive academic resource to strengthen knowledge, enhance analytical skills, and promote research innovation in the field of electroanalytical chemistry. This laboratory introduces learners to the core principles of oxidation-reduction chemistry, electrode processes, and electrochemical measurements through structured modules and simulation-based experiments.

Objective

  • To develop a clear understanding of redox chemistry, electrode processes, and electrochemical thermodynamics. To build strong conceptual foundations in voltammetry, amperometry, and potentiometry.
  • To simulate real-time electroanalytical experiments in a safe and accessible digital environment. To enhance analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills through guided virtual experiments.
  • To provide in-depth understanding of surface modification techniques for electrode enhancement. To explore nanomaterials and composite materials for improved sensor performance.
  • To develop methodologies for electrochemical detection of toxic heavy metals in real environmental samples. To promote practical knowledge in trace-level analysis of contaminants such as lead, cadmium, and mercury. To train learners in sample preparation, calibration techniques, and validation methods.
  • To foster innovation in electrochemical sensor development and environmental applications. To prepare learners for advanced academic research and industrial analytical practices.
