The sessions provided an overview of multiple domains within digital forensics, including network forensics, file system analysis, memory forensics, and steganography, enabling participants to develop a foundational understanding of how forensic techniques are applied to uncover digital evidence.
The objective is to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in digital forensics by:
- Learning about file signatures and their application in carving files from cover files and traffic dumps.
- Applying memory forensics techniques using the open-source tool Volatility through real-world case studies.
- Understanding the Master File Table (MFT) and its key metadata attributes via practical examples.
- Exploring steganography techniques commonly used in real-world scenarios to conceal and extract hidden information.
