Introduction

Welcome to the Virtual Laboratory on design of reinforced concrete structures developed at COEP TECH. This lab is designed to provide a practical learning experience by simulating real life scenarios in a digital environment. The laboratory emphasizes both conceptual clarity and applied knowledge.
The experiments included in this module are structured to cover fundamental principles while gradually introducing advanced topics. Each experiment is accompanied by theoretical background, step by step procedures, pre and post lab quizzes, and simulation based exercises. This ensures that learners develop not only the ability to perform experiments but also the critical thinking and analytical skills required to interpret results. The platform thus promotes experiential learning, encourages self-paced exploration and prepares students for practical problem solving in real world engineering and scientific contexts.

Objective

  • To understand the fundamental principles behind each experiment and their real world engineering applications and develop the ability to perform simulated experiments and analyse results systematically.
  • To understand the fundamental design principles of RC structural elements such as beams, columns, slabs, staircases, and foundations.
  • To apply the provisions of IS 456:2000 code in the design and detailing of RC structures.
  • To assess and enhance conceptual knowledge through pre lab quizzes, encouraging the students to prepare before attempting the design experiments.
  • To analyse the results and evaluate learning outcomes through post lab quizzes, helping students validate their understanding and identify areas for improvement.
